Guys, let's face it, overnight shipping is expensive! We want to make the customer happy, but we also need to run our business and keep the lights. Recently we had a customer place a $56 order, didn't pay for shipping in the order, and after being asked by our staff to add shipping, they wanted a full refund. Ok, maybe you didn't know, but here's the reality: you are buying animals that originated from Oceans over 8000 miles away. We are not a garage outfit, we have lots of taxes, rent, overhead, payroll taxes, material, equipment, utilities etc. Shipping has risen every year, and we are trying to keep it down for our customers. The truth is, many store have closed in the recent months. We will do whatever we can to bring you the best value, please work with us in this endeavor. Thank you!

As you may be aware, overnight shipping of aquatic animals is expensive. They need to be packed very well, insulated, in water with extra oxygen, and get to you within 24 hours. Here’s a screenshot of actual shipping charges to your home published on UPS.com. (see screenshot, from UC to CA residential)
We do have some discounts with UPS, however with a coral order, there is also cost of the corals (imported from Australia or Asia), husbandry, running the facility, labor, materials, other overhead, etc.
I understand you would like to cancel the order for a refund. We will extend a one time courtesy. Please note we will not be able to issue a refund in the future.

Sure starting a brand new tank with no experience could be very daunting. But there are so many successful reefers out there with beautiful stable tanks, and they all started exactly where you started - from scratch. So let's see what's the basic steps of getting started.
Do your research.Before you even start buying anything, it's important to do your research and learn as much as you can about reef aquariums. This will help you make informed decisions about the equipment you need and the livestock you want to keep.
Choose the right tank.The size of your tank will depend on the type of corals you want to keep. Some corals, such as SPS corals, need a lot of space to grow. Other corals, such as LPS corals, can be kept in smaller tanks.
Set up your tank properly.Once you have your tank, it's important to set it up properly. This includes adding the right substrate, water, and equipment. You'll also need to cycle your tank, which is a process that allows the beneficial bacteria to establish themselves in the water.
Choose the right livestock.Once your tank is cycled, you can start adding livestock. It's important to choose the right livestock for your tank. This means choosing corals that are compatible with each other and with the conditions in your tank.
Maintain your tank.Once you have your livestock, it's important to maintain your tank properly. This includes doing regular water changes, testing the water parameters, and feeding your livestock.
Here are some additional tips for starting a reef aquarium coral tank:
Start with a small tank. This will make it easier to manage and maintain.
Don't overstock your tank. This can lead to problems with water quality and disease.
Be patient. It takes time for a reef aquarium to mature. Don't expect to have a thriving reef overnight.
Do your research. There are many resources available to help you learn about reef aquariums.
Join a reef club or forum. This is a great way to get advice and support from other reefers.
With a little planning and effort, you can successfully start a reef aquarium coral tank. Just remember to do your research, start small, and be patient. Happy Reefing!

Care Level:Intermediate. Hardy forSPS. This colony has been with us in-house for a little under a year and has been propagated only a few times. We are finally releasing frags to the public and are excited to see what the hobby is able to do with this one-of-a-kind piece.
Notes:A large majority of theAcroporareceived from our UCSI (Unique Corals Solomon Island) station consists ofA. millepora,A. hyacinthus, andA. prostrata. Anything that comes from the Solomon Island station that is not one of the above was essentially one in a million.
